A man has been arrested following an incident on Dublin’s Parnell Square involving what has been described as “alleged threatening behaviour”.

The Irish man (30s) was allegedly brandishing a knife outside a school, but did not gain access to the school.

The incident occurred at around 9am this morning.

He is currently in custody in a Dublin city centre garda station.

Gardaí say he has arrested for alleged offences under the Firearms and Offences Weapons Act.

While there are no injuries reported, gardaí said they had been conducting regular patrols in this area and these patrols will continue.

“Gardaí are liaising with the local community and anyone impacted by the incident,” gardaí added.
