Urgent Notice! Major Water Supply Leak in North Dublin Causes Outages Tonight Across Multiple Areas
Urgent Water Supply Repairs in North Dublin: Potential Disruptions and Water Discoloration; Residents Urged to Prepare.
Due to a “significant leak” detected in the North Dublin water supply system, Irish Water will initiate emergency repairs starting tonight at 9 PM.
The impacted areas include Swords, Santry, Malahide, Portmarnock, Kinsealy, Lissenhall, Donabate, Portrane, Clarehall, Malahide Road, Donaghmede, and surrounding neighborhoods.
During the repairs, residents in these areas may experience water supply interruptions or temporary discoloration in the water. To minimize disruption, the work is scheduled overnight, but due to the scale and complexity of the repair, it is expected to last until early tomorrow morning.
Most areas are anticipated to have water service restored by Saturday noon, though elevated locations may take an additional 6 to 12 hours for full recovery.
To assist residents in coping with potential water shortages, Irish Water has set up emergency water stations at the following locations:
- Seaview Park in Portrane
- Island View in Malahide
- St. Finian’s Catholic Church in South Swords
- St. Colmcille’s GAA Club in North Swords
- Sports & Leisure Club in Portmarnock
Irish Water advises that water collected from these points be boiled before drinking to ensure safety. Residents are also encouraged to familiarize themselves with their local water supply locations and capacity to help manage resources effectively.
Additionally, a link to real-time water outage updates is available via eircle.com for those needing immediate information.
This repair work is not expected to impact traffic, but Irish Water advises residents to be prepared and closely follow updates on water supply restoration to reduce inconvenience caused by the repair.
