Mum with terminal ovarian cancer beats the odds: ‘Never give up hope – I’m still here making memories’
A new treatment has ‘bought time’ for Christine Campbell, and she’s using it well
Ms Campbell is terminally ill with ovarian cancer. In July 2023, the mother-of-two was told she had less than a year to live. But she is “beating all the odds and living on borrowed time” thanks to a lifesaving new treatment.
“In 2021, there was no way I thought I would be here to celebrate my 59th birthday,” she said.
“But here I am, and I am well. And we’re thinking about a cruise.
“What I always say to everyone now is, never give up hope,” she told the Sunday Independent.
“Things don’t stand still, they change. New treatments are always emerging. The drug I’m taking now is not a cure, but it’s buying me time.”
There’s less awareness of ovarian cancer, compared to breast or prostate cancer
