Two people due in court in relation to an alleged incident of violent disorder in Longford

Two people are due to appear before Mullingar District Court on Friday, October 11, in relation to an alleged incident of violent disorder in Deanscurragh, Co Longford yesterday, Thursday, October 10.

Searches were carried out at three residential properties and three people were subsequently arrested and detained under Section 4 of the Criminal Justice Act 1984 at a Garda station in the North Western Region.

A man and a woman, both in their 20s, were subsequently charged and are due to appear before Mullingar District Court on Friday at 10.30am.

A second woman, also aged in her 20s, was charged and is due to appear before Longford District Court at a later date.

Investigations are ongoing.

This article was amended on October 11 to reflect the court sitting is taking place in Mullingar and not Athlone.
