What to expect in the pre-Election Budget speech

Budget 2025 is set to be announced at 1pm, in what will be the last Budget of this Government with a General Election on the horizon.

Amongst the announcements expected at 1pm are:

  • Increase of pension payments by €12-per-week
  • Two double child benefit payments
  • Children will be allowed to inherit up to €400,000 from a parent before tax would apply
  • There will be a €15 per week increase in maternity and paternity benefits
  • A cut to the Universal Social Charge (USC)
  • Tenants set to get an extra €250 in the renter’s tax credit to cover both 2024 and 2025
  • A reduction in third-level fees
  • A cost of living package
  • Energy credits to the value of €250
  • Possible increase in minimum wage
  • The Government is also set to outline how the Apple money will be spent.
  • The health budget is to increase by €3 billion over 2024
