Dogs Trust encourage people to take part in Dog Census

Dogs trust are encouraging the public to take part in Ireland’s Dog Census.

The short questionnaire can be completed by those who currently have a canine companion, as well as those who love dogs but do not have one.

The charity wants to understand more about how issues like the cost of living and scarcity in the housing market are affecting dogs and their owners.

Dogs Trust said this will help them provide helpful advice for dog owners, and better understand their struggles.

A recent survey by the charity showed over one in 10 people have considered giving up their dog.

Dogs Trust received 2,366 requests from people looking to surrender dogs into their care in 2024.
