In Ireland, as in other affluent societies, voluntary assisted dying and medical assistance in dying constantly surface as topics which are important to a small proportion of people at any given time – and of some but lesser interest to much of the electorate.
In societies such as ours, there is constant campaigning for their availability, chiefly driven by families and households for whom their availability becomes highly relevant.
