Opinion poll shows rise in support for Fine Gael

The results of the latest Red C Poll in the Business Post show Fine Gael widening its lead over both Fianna Fáil and Sinn Féin by five points.

It puts the Taoiseach’s party five points ahead of Fianna Fáil which is down one and Sinn Féin which has dropped by two with both parties on 18 per cent.

Independents are unchanged at 15 per cent, with the Social Democrats up one point to six per cent.

Labour is up one point to four per cent and the Green Party is down one point to four per cent.

Independent Ireland is also down one point to four per cent, while People Before Profit/Solidarity is unchanged at three per cent.

Aontú is up one point to four per cent.

With the election on everyone’s lips as the Dáil returns on Wednesday after the summer recess.

Despite speculation that a general election will take place in November, Taoiseach Simon Harris has made it clear he wants the Government to run its full term to March.
