Man (20s) arrested in relation to serious assault in Cork city
Gardaí have arrested a man in relation to a serious assault that occurred in Cork city yesterday evening.
The incident occurred at the junction of Grand Parade and Oliver Plunkett Street shortly after 5pm.
Shortly after 5pm yesterday, gardaí and emergency services responding to the incident found a man in his 30s at the scene with serious injuries.
He received medical treatment at the scene and was then transported to Cork University Hospital.
His injuries were described as being “serious” but not life-threatening.
A technical and forensic examination of the scene was then completed.
A man, aged in his 20s, was arrested by gardaí this morning.
He is currently detained under Section 4 of the Criminal Justice at a Garda station in Cork City.
“Investigations ongoing,” a garda spokesperson said.
