‘Ready to work hard’ – TV broadcaster Gráinne Seoige says upcoming election ‘about shaping the future’
She will stand in Galway West after she and Councillor John Connolly were both selected at a party convention in Oughterard on Friday night.
Fianna Fáil confirmed that Ollie Crowe, Alan Cheevers and Darragh Ó Tuairisg, all withdrew their nominations yesterday.
Ms Seoige, who is from Galway, is a native speaker from the Gaeltacht village of An Spidéal.
She announced her intention to run as a TD in the Galway West constituency last August.
The TV presenter contacted Fianna Fáil veteran Éamon Ó Cuív before throwing her hat in the ring.
Ms Seoige started her career at TG4 after graduating from University College Galway.
She went on to present news and current affairs and entertainment programmes at TV3, RTÉ, Sky News and Virgin Media.
Most recently, she presented Virgin Media’s Grá ar an Trá.
