The Pearse Centre, Saturday 7th September – Thursday 12th September
Written and performed by Jo Morrigan Black
Have you checked your closet for moths? In an unforgettable revelry of cloth, the Mothman makes its way in striking colour to Dublin Fringe.
This solo show by Jo Morrigan Black combines Spoken Word poetry, physical theatre and drag in order to celebrate queer resistance to taxonomy. Carpet Muncher brings the urban legend of the ‘Mothman’ to life, using vibrant surrealist costuming to explore themes of queer alienation, metamorphosis, cross-border solidarity and homoerotic hot-hub encounters.
In a time when crossings of gender categories, as well as crossings of geographical borders are met with increased political backlash, this show invites you to face what you don’t yet recognise. The unfamiliar at your doorstep. The pest inside your closet. Is it hungry for light? More creature than human? Join this intimate, frenzied call to celebrate the unknowable
within us all.
