St Ann’s Church, Sunday 13th October
Gediminas Karkauskas makes a welcome return to St. Ann’s Church in a new collaboration with Bassist Cormac O’Brien. This is an opportunity for Dublin audiences to hear these two gifted performers before they go on to perform in Chicago and Carnegie Hall in New York.
They will have a fresh program of new arrangements of Karkauskas’ debut album, Lost Suite as well as some carefully chosen and discerning jazz standards.
Lost Suite was launched to tremendous critical acclaim and its debut performance in this same venue back in 2022 was a musical success. Now Karkauskas and O’Brien are starting to receive the international attention they so richly deserve. Following that Karkauskas performed to a full John Field Room in the National Concert Hall in 2023.
Gediminas continues to be active in classical and jazz music and worked with some of the leading Irish and International musicians like Linley Hamilton, Stephen Davis etc. In 2015 he performed at National Concert Hall with Louise Stewart and has performed numerous lecture recitals and masterclasses in Ireland and abroad.
Cormac O’Brien has been at the forefront of Irish Jazz for many years. He has held the bass chair in the Dublin City Jazz Orchestra since its inception and is a member of the Hibernian Orchestra. He is also one part of the very successful Carole Nelson Trio.
