Woman charged with dangerous driving causing death of Cork mother-of-two

Jennifer Thomas (46) appeared before Judge Mary Dorgan at Cork District Court.

Thomas of Oakfield View, Glanmire, Co Cork is charged with dangerous driving causing the death of Sheila Dunne (54) on February 11, 2024.

The charge, which is brought contrary to Section 53 of the Road Traffic Act, 1961 alleges that Jennifer Thomas did, on February 11 last on the L2973 road at Sarsfield Court in Glanmire, drive in such a manner that was dangerous to the public thereby causing the death of an individual, namely Sheila Dunne.

The defendant appeared in court wearing a black trouser suit.

She did not speak during the brief hearing.

Thomas also faces a number of summary charges.

These include being under the influence of an intoxicant to such an extent as to be incapable of having proper control of a vehicle at Sarsfield Court, dangerous driving at Hazelwood Road, Sallybrook, not having a driving license and failure to produce a driving license.
