Ireland weather: Temperature to reach 24C this week but Met Éireann dampens hopes of return to summery weather
However, there is good news for later in the week, when temperatures are set to soar to 24 degrees.
Despite a wet start today, sunshine is expected towards the evening, especially in the east and south of the country.
Highest temperatures today will be between 15 to 18 degrees, followed by long dry spells with some showers tonight, dropping down to as low as 7 degrees.
Wednesday will bring a mix of sunny spells and showers, however Met Éireann warned that some of the showers “may be heavy and prolonged”.
Maximum temperatures tomorrow of 14 to 17 degrees, dropping to as low as 6 to 9 degrees overnight.
Thursday will be mostly cloudy across the eastern half of the country with the chance of rain at times in Leinster and east Munster.
The current indications are positive and suggest it will be dry further west with good sunny spells, especially in Atlantic coastal areas.
