Gardaí are investigating separate and unrelated incidents in which a hand grenade was thrown at a house, forcing a midnight evacuation of homes in a Cork estate, and an attack in which a man attempted to douse a pub with petrol.
Gardaí, Defence Forces Explosives & Ordinance Disposal experts and Cork Fire Brigade were alerted to deal with both incidents in the Ballyvolane area of Cork city.
