‘Adoring grandmother’ – Donegal woman killed after being struck by lorry is named locally
The woman who died after being struck by a lorry in Co Donegal has been named locally.
Patricia McBrearty of Church Street, St Johnston died after being struck by a lorry close to her home in the village at around 2pm on Friday afternoon.
The driver of the lorry was uninjured.
Mrs McBrearty, who was in her 80s, is the fourth person to die on Donegal roads in less than a week.
Funeral arrangements are yet to be confirmed.
Mrs McBrearty’s death notice reads, “Wife of the late Paddy and loving mother of Brian (Majella), Tina (Ciaran) and Susie (Geoff), adoring grandmother of Cara, Hannah, PJ and Eimear, sister of Anne Strain (Burnfoot) and late Elizabeth Kavanagh (Fahan) and much loved larger circle of family and friends.”
The road remained closed for period of time on Friday to allow gardaí to carry out an examination and local diversions were in place but it has since reopened.
The coroner has been notified and her body was taken to the mortuary at Letterkenny Hospital…
