Gavin Sheehan was branded a ‘rat’ in graffiti that appeared in Cork this week.

Gardai were called to the Shankiel area of the Cork at 5.40pm on Friday after receiving reports that masked men had smashed the windows of criminal Gavin Sheehan’s home before fleeing the scene on a motorbike.

Shortly after the incident, an innocent pedestrian was knocked down at 6.10pm in the nearby Churchfield Road.

The victim, who is in his 60s, is understood to have sustained a number of serious injuries including a collapsed lung, a fractured neck, a broken pelvis and several fractures to his leg.

Gardaí later arrested a man (20s) in connection with the investigation into the incidents but he was released without charge and a file was sent to the DPP.

But now, a garda spokesman has confirmed that a suspect will be brought before the courts this morning.
