Kian Dawson: Father of teen killed in road crash says son now reunited with grandfather in moving tribute: ‘My daddy. My boy’

Kian (16) was a passenger in the car that was being driven by a man in his 20s when it went out of control on the R240 at Cross, Quigley’s Point at around 11.15pm on Saturday.

Kian was killed in the crash, and the driver was taken to the Royal Victoria Hospital in Belfast in a critical condition.

Kian was from the Carnhill area of Derry, and had been out for a cross-border drive when the single-vehicle crash happened.

In an update on Tuesday afternoon, the Gardaí said the man in his 20s died this afternoon.

They again appealed for any witnesses or anyone with information to come forward.

It came after Kian’s father paid a moving tribute, saying his boy is now reunited with his grandfather in heaven.

Kian’s father, Emmett Kirk, posted a photo of the teen along with his grandad on social media, stating: “Finally back together, these two were special to me but even more special to each other.

“My daddy. My boy.”
