Sacked schoolteacher Enoch Burke hit with another costs order in long running dispute with Wilson’s Hospital School
The latest costs order stems from a failed application by Mr Burke seeking to set aside the High Court order restraining him from going to the Co Westmeath secondary school.
That application was rejected last month. In a further judgment today on the issue of costs, Mr Justice Mark Sanfey said it would be an “affront to justice” if the school’s board of management was not awarded its costs against Mr Burke.
“The application was inappropriate and should not have been made,” the judge said.
It is the latest in a series of costs rulings against Mr Burke, who has been in and out of the civil courts for the past two years.
Earlier this year, the High Court awarded costs to publishers Mediahuis Ireland after it successfully defended defamation proceedings brought by Mr Burke over an article in the Sunday Independent.
