‘We really are best of friends now’ – how Rose of Tralee hopefuls ‘root for each other’ ahead of first selection night

Abby Walsh (22) told the Irish Independent that the highlights of her time in Tralee were the parade on Saturday night and meeting all fellow Roses.

Speaking on Monday just a few hours before the first selection night, she feels “definitely excited” and “a little bit nervous as well” ahead of tonight’s live show.

“It’s been absolutely incredible. Meeting the girls, we really are best of friends now,” she said.

“We’re really rooting for each other, we were just doing the rehearsals there and we were watching it on the screen in the green room, we are so proud of each other.”

She described the first parade going through the streets of Tralee on Saturday night as “just incredible”.

“There’s no words. We all got back on the bus and we didn’t speak for good solid minute, because we were like: ‘What just happened?’” She said

“It was very overwhelming at the same time, but it was absolutely incredible, you just didn’t know what’s going to happen.
