‘Our boxing club is growing, more girls are joining but we don’t have enough equipment,’ says Ballybrack club

Ballybrack Boxing Club has hailed heroes such as Kellie Harrington for putting boxing on the map and more children becoming interested in the sport.

The club has been growing in size recently with children training and also competing in county, national and international competitions.

Member Larry Redmond (28), who has been involved with the club for eight years, has set up a fundraiser for “well needed funds for new sports equipment such as boxing gloves, headgear, skipping ropes, vest and shorts for our club.”

Earlier this year, Larry ran a 51km challenge in the hopes of giving back to the Ballybrack Boxing Club.

“The kids love boxing, it’s a massive part of the community. Seeing all the successful boxers now, it gives the kids a boost and a bit of motivation, ” Mr Redmond told the Irish Independent.

“They can see boxing will take you far if you put in the work and train hard. It shows you can make a life out of it. Even if you want to stay amateur, you don’t have to do…
