Day 13 was a relatively quiet outing for athletes flying the flag for Ireland. Unfortunately, the woes continued for Team Ireland’s female golfers at the Le Golf National course. Cavan native Leona Maguire shot a dissapointing 79 in her second round and drops to 13-over, while Stephanie Meadow scored a 74 and sits on 8-over in the leaderboard after Day Two, leaving the pair all but out of contention.
The Women’s Heptathlon got underway in the Stade de France, with Kate O’Connor of Team Ireland completing the 100m Hurdles in a time of 14.08 seconds. She managed 1.77m in the high jump, followed by a distance of 13.79 metres in the shot put. The Newry native from County Down rounded off in third place in her heat after a season’s best time of 24.77 seconds in the 200m sprint. She ranks in 19th-place overall in the…
