It’s the first official day of action of the Olympic Games in Paris, with plenty of Irish involvement.

Sarah Ennis was first up this morning in the dressage – her score penalty of 38 points on board Action Lady M leaves her in 15th so far this morning.

Susie Berry and Austin O’Connor will be out in the same event later.

The Ireland men’s hockey team opened their campaign with a 2-0 defeat to defending champions Belgium.

In the pool, Ellen Walshe came sixth in her 100-metre butterfly heat this morning, missing out on a semi-final spot.

Next up for the Irish swimmers is the women’s 4-by-100-metre freestyle heats.

Danielle Hill, Victoria Catterson, Erin O’Riordan and Grace Davidson are in action from 11.15am.

Rowers Daire Lynch and Philip Doyle are currently going in heat 3 of the men’s double sculls.
