Henry Shefflin steps down as Galway hurling manager after three years
Galway GAA is on the look-out for a new senior hurling manager after Henry Shefflin stepped down this afternoon.
The Kilkenny legend’s future has been shrouded in doubt for over a month, ever since Galway crashed out of the championship, failing to secure a top-three berth in Leinster after losing their final group game at home to Dublin.
Shefflin’s departure has now been confirmed by Galway GAA chiefs, less than 24 hours since Davy Fitzgerald called time on his two-year spell in charge of Waterford.
Curiously, Fitzgerald had been a candidate for the Galway role before Shefflin was dramatically announced as their manager in October 2021.
