Back in December, when the IRFU announced Andrew Goodman as Mike Catt’s successor, the wording of the press release appeared to be carefully selected.

Rather than describe Goodman’s role as ‘attack coach’, the union appointed the Kiwi as ‘backs coach’ – a slight, yet important distinction.
