Taylor Swift is taking Europe by storm and is preparing to perform in Ireland this weekend, prompting some pundits to envisage an economic windfall as fans flock to her sold-out shows in Dublin’s Aviva Stadium.

It is hoped Swift could provide a shot in the arm for an Irish economy still recovering from the Covid pandemic and a cost-of-living crunch.

But there is one problem: “Swiftonomics” is not actually real.

She may be a megastar revolutionising the music industry, but once the excitement wears off, you will need a magnifying glass to spot the economic benefit.
