Watch: Man arrested as three dogs die in Derry arson

Three dogs have died following a fire at a house in Derry.

A man in his 30s has been arrested following the incident in the Meadow View Crescent area of Derry on Sunday.

No one was inside the property when the fire began, at around 6.35pm, but police confirmed three dogs were found deceased following the incident.

They said the home was “completely gutted as a result of the fire”.

Emergency Services at the scene

A police spokesperson said: “A 36-year-old man was arrested on suspicion of arson endangering life with intent and two counts of assault on police. He remains in police custody at this time.

“Police are currently investigating and urge anyone with information surrounding the arson to come forward.”
