Weather forecast Ireland: Met Éireann warns of spot flooding and thundery downpours as rain set for the weekend

While many parts of the country will see a mix of sunny spells and scattered showers, heavy rain will move across the south later on today with the chance of spot flooding, Met Éireann has said.

Some of the heavy spells could also develop into thundery downpours and temperatures today will be between 13C and 17C.

Any of the remaining heavy showers will become isolated overnight and most areas will be dry with lowest temperatures of between 5C and 9C.

It will be overcast for the northern half of the country on Sunday but it will be dry and bright for many areas in the south with sunny spells and a few showers.

Temperatures tomorrow will be between 13C and 18C, while overnight it will drop to between 9C and 12C.

Next week will begin cloudy with some patchy rain and drizzle though there will be some bright and sunny spells at times on Monday. Daytime temperatures will reach between 13C and 18C while overnight they could fall to…
