The first warning will come into effect for counties Cork and Kerry at 11pm tonight and remain in place until noon on Friday.

Met Éireann has issued a further Status Yellow warning for Galway and Mayo between 6am tomorrow morning until 9pm on Friday night, while a third rain warning will come into effect for counties Carlow, Kilkenny, Wexford, Wicklow and Waterford between 6am on Friday until 6am on Saturday.

Localised flooding is possible in the impacted counties.

Meanwhile, Met Éireann forecast a cold, bright and mostly dry day nationwide today, with some isolated showers which will become heavier and more frequent this afternoon as they move northwards.

Further spells of rain will develop in the southwest by early evening, with highest temperatures of 9 to 13 degrees expected.

It will be a wet and breezy night ahead with showery rain moving northwards across the country.

Met Éireann warned that these spells of rain will be heavy at times and may cause localised flooding.
