A man in his 30s has been charged following the discovery of a suspicious device at a residence in Wexford town.
He is to appear before a special sitting of Waterford District Court on Saturday evening.
The Army Explosive Ordnance Disposal (EOD) unit was called to the scene at Wolfe Tone Villas around 7pm on Friday.
Neighbouring homes were evacuated as a precaution prior to the suspect device being examined by a specialist team.
In a statement, gardaí said they were “alerted following the discovery of a suspect device at a residence in Wexford town at approximately 7pm yesterday, Friday.”
The statement added that a “cordon was established,” and the Army Explosive Ordnance Disposal (EOD) team attended the scene.
“The EOD team examined the suspect device and subsequently made it safe.”
The garda cordon which surrounded the house for several hours has since been lifted.
