Former Mayo goalkeeper Rob Hennelly says birth of his baby son is ‘best day of my life’

Posting a series of black and white photos on Instagram the GAA star said: “Words can’t describe how proud of I am of (wife) Orla.”

Rob and Orla as well as family members are seen in the various snaps, cradling their new arrival they have named Charlie.

Well-known names of the sport offered their congratulations to the pair with Aidan O’Shea and Lee Keegan among the Mayo contingent.

Former Dublin ace Brian Fenton posted: “Up the parish. Congrats to you both!”

The former All-Star goalkeeper, who retired in December, had played 16 senior seasons with his county after joining the squad in 2009, before making his debut two years later.

The Breaffy native (34) who won seven Connacht SFC titles, switched to Raheny in 2023 and still lines out for the club.
