A suspected explosive device has been found at a house in Gleann an Ghairdín in Gorey.

Wexford gardaí rushed to a housing estate in Gorey this morning following the discovery of a suspected explosive device.

It is understood that residents have been evacuated from Gleann an Ghardín on the Ballytegan Road, Gorey, as gardaí conduct an investigation having cordoned off the area.

The assistance of the Army Explosive Ordnance Disposal Unit has also been requested.

The Defence Forces have declined to comment for security reasons due to the ongoing nature of the operation.

Gleann an Ghairdín is a newly developed housing estate within walking distance of Gorey’s Main Street.
