Landmarks around the world go green for St. Patrick’s Day

A number of well-known landmarks from around the world have been turned green today to mark St Patrick’s Day.

Tourism Ireland’s Global Greening initiative has seen global landmarks lit up in green as part of the celebrations on March 17 annually since 2010.

This year’s campaign includes Niagara Falls in Canada, New York City’s iconic Empire State Building, and the Royal Liver Building in Liverpool.

Also featured is a polar bear sculpture in Longyearbyen in Norway, the Sacré-Cœur in Paris and the Sky Tower in Auckland, New Zealand.

The Global Greening initiative was paused twice in recent years, in 2022 following the Russian invasion of Ukraine and in 2023 due to the energy crisis.
