Darragh McCarthy (21), a Munster Technological University (MTU) student, died in hospital days after he fell from an upper storey of a student accommodation complex in Cork.

The student, from Carrigagour, Midleton in east Cork fell from Eden Hall student accommodation on Model Farm Road at around 4am last Thursday (March 6).

Gardaí are treating the incident as a tragic accident and a file is being prepared for the Cork Coroner.

The young man was transferred to Cork University Hospital (CUH) immediately after the accident but he had suffered severe head injuries.

He died from his injuries on Tuesday surrounded by his “loving family.”
