Gardaí concerned over violent feuding after car firebombed in Limerick

Gardaí are investigating a firebombing of a car on the outskirts of Limerick city.

As part of a number of lines of enquiry, gardaí are probing whether or not the arson attack is linked to violent feuding between rival groups operating in the Treaty City.

The arson occurred in Garryowen at around 11pm on Thursday night.

A garda spokesman said: “Gardaí attended the scene. A car was damaged by fire in the course of this incident.

“No injuries were reported and investigations are ongoing.”

Garda sources said violent incidents have increased of late among feuding groups in Limerick, including firebombs, pipe-bomb attacks, shootings, stabbings.
