Tributes paid to Aaron Hussain (5) who died after being struck by car in Portlaoise on Saturday

The young boy was hit by a car on a road not far from his home in the Kilminchy area on the outskirts of Portlaoise town at 4.20pm yesterday.

Gardaí and emergency services attended the scene and the boy was taken to Midland Regional Hospital in Portlaoise, but his injuries proved to be fatal.

The devastating news has left a community in shock and sadness.

Aaron was a junior infant pupil in the Educate Together school in Portlaoise and the son of Tauqir Hussain, who is involved in a local barber shop, and Irina Novikova who runs a beauty studio in the town.
