A man has been charged after guns and more than 1,500 rounds of ammunition were seized in a garda raid in Bettystown, Co Meath.
The man in his 40s arrested in connection with the investigation is expected to appear before Dundalk District Court at 10.30am this morning.
He had been arrested after detectives based at Coolock Garda Station searched a home under warrant yesterday.
During the search, a 9mm CZ handgun with three fully loaded magazines was recovered along with an improvised handgun.
As well as the weapons, more than 1,500 rounds of ammunition consisting of an assortment of 9mm, .22, .38, .45 rounds and shotgun cartridges were seized.
