Cabinet to sign off on St Patrick’s Day travel plans for ministers, with heavy focus on US relations

Tánaiste and Foreign Affairs Minister Simon Harris will bring the St Patrick’s Day programme to cabinet, which will outline a proposal to send ministers to almost 40 locations across the world.
The Taoiseach, Tanaiste and eight Ministers will travel to the United States for extensive high-level engagement with the United States, amid ongoing concern in Ireland and the EU over trade tariffs imposed by President Donald Trump.
At cabinet, the Tánaiste will stress the importance of the St Patrick’s Day programme this year for building partnerships with political leaders in the US.
Ministers travelling to the US will also be expected to emphasise how the mutually beneficial the economic relationship between Ireland and America is.
With US companies employing thousands of people in Ireland, there will be increased pressed on ministers when they travel to America.
