Gardaí are investigating a threatening email sent to a number of schools in the Co Clare area.
Gardaí are currently “assessing the contents and credibility of that communication”, a spokesperson confirmed to the Irish Independent.
It is understood the email was sent to a number of schools in the county overnight.
Gardaí have advised any senior management in the schools affected to make contact with Ennis Garda Station.
It is understood a small number of schools have taken the decision to remain closed until further clarity.
