Young man (20s) hospitalised with serious injuries following crash in Co Wexford

Gardaí are continuing to investigate the cause of a single-vehicle road collision on Monday that left a young man in his 20s critically injured in hospital. (Niall Carson/PA).

A young man aged in his 20s is currently fighting for his life in hospital following a road crash in rural Wexford on Wednesday night.

Emergency services rushed to the scene of the single-vehicle collision on the R734 at Poulfur, Fethard-on-Sea, where they discovered the young man, who is believed to have suffered an “extremely serious” head injury.

The single-vehicle incident took place around 11.40pm.

He was taken into the care of the National Ambulance Services who rushed him to University Hospital Waterford where he remains in critical condition.

The female occupant of the car, aged in her 20s, was taken to Wexford General Hospital for treatment.

An Garda Síochána were present at the scene and the road was closed to allow for a full technical examination from garda forensic collision…
