NFL Div 1: Derry 1-24 Kerry 5-15

Diarmuid O’Connor of Kerry with supporters after the Allianz Football League Division 1 match between Derry and Kerry at Celtic Park

The craziest last minute of a match Celtic Park has probably ever witnessed – and possibly ever will – saw Kerry plunder two goals within 20 seconds of each other to snatch a dramatic win over Derry in a brilliantly bonkers Division One contest.

Jack O’Connor said it a real “smash and grab” win, with the Kerry boss conceding that he would have been delighted to have come away with a draw. Trailing by five points, 1-23 to 2-15, as the game ticked over the 70-minute mark (we are all still counting up even though the clock is ticking down) Kerry looked destined to start their league campaign with a creditable loss, but a loss nonetheless.
