Evan Ferguson is set to be reunited with Graham Potter at West Ham after Brighton agreed to send the Ireland international on loan to their Premier League rivals.
The 20-year-old will join the London club until the end of the season in a straight loan deal.
There had been speculation linking Ferguson with a permanent move away during this window, or a loan with an option to buy, but this arrangement will effectively mean that the next six months will determine the value of the Bettystown native ahead of a bigger discussion in the summer.
Ferguson came off the bench in Brighton’s 7-0 drubbing at Nottingham Forest on Saturday, but he has been starved of gametime under Fabian Hurzeler with injury also complicating his prospects.
