Taoiseach confronted over Government’s handling of Storm Éowyn
Taoiseach Micheál Martin defended the government’s response to the ongoing humanitarian crisis in the wake Storm Éowyn as he was angrily challenged on a visit to impacted areas.
Rachel Connolly from Cloonkeen, Castlerea, confronted the Taoiseach about the ongoing difficulties faced by her family who have been told their power will not be restored until February 5.
Ms Connolly said this was the fourth time in 12 months her family lost power and had received no contact or assistance from any member of the government or local authority.
Ms Connolly dismissed the Taoiseach’s repeated attempts to detail the governments planning around the storm to limit to hardship suffered by families.
“With respect Taoiseach am I the only who these plans didn’t work for,” she said.
“There is no facilities here.
“Why didn’t you have more in place? You knew this was coming?
