Man killed in Co Donegal after tree falls on car during Storm Éowyn

A man has died after a tree fell on his car during high winds in Storm Éowyn.

Gardai say they were alerted to a “serious road traffic incident” at Feddyglass, Raphoe, Co Donegal at approximately 5.30am.

“Subsequently gardaí and local emergency services have attended the scene where during Storm Éowyn a tree fell on a car,” a Garda spokesperson said.

“A male driver, was fatally injured during the incident. The body of the deceased remains at the scene at this time.”

Gardaí added that they are working with the local authority and third party contractors to attempt to remove the remains of the deceased from the scene.

The force warned that the N14 remains closed at this time.

“Forensic collision investigator and divisional scenes of crime have commenced investigation at the scene,” the spokesperson added.

“Investigations are ongoing.”
