A woman has been injured in a hit and run collision in Cork.

The incident occurred shortly before 7am on the North Ring Road near Ballyvolane.

It happened close to the junction of Dunne Stores supermarket and the Applegreen service station.

She suffered multiple injuries in the incident.

It is understood the vehicle involved failed to remain at the scene.

The woman, who is in her 30s, was transferred to hospital for treatment.

No further details are available on her condition.

Gardaí are searching for the vehicle and motorist involved with CCTV security camera footage expected to play a crucial role in the investigation.
