Dublin city centre fire: Residents evacuated as emergency services attended blaze off Gardiner Street
Firefighters treated one injured person and evacuated nearby residents while attending a flat on fire in Dublin city centre last night.
Dublin Fire Brigade (DFB) was called at 12.24am on Friday night to reports of a flat on fire off Gardiner Street in the north city centre.
Four fire engines from Phibsborough and Tara Street fire stations responded to the scene along with an emergency ambulance from DFB headquarters.
“Firefighters in breathing apparatus extinguished the fire and all persons were accounted for,” a spokesperson for DFB said.
One person at the scene was treated by firefighters and paramedics at the scene, with gardaí also in attendance.
Local residents, many of whom are elderly, as well as household pets, were temporarily evacuated as adjacent flats were checked for fire spread.
The atmosphere in the properties was monitored using a gas detection device.
