A woman has been charged in relation to an alleged hit and run incident involving a cyclist outside Dundalk last Monday.

Gagandeep Kaur of Adamstown, Dunleer appeared before Judge Stephanie Coggans at Ardee District Court on Friday morning.

The 37-year-old was brought to court in custody, but was granted bail after an in-camera hearing.

Garda Conor Hegarty provided evidence of charging Kaur at 9.16pm on Thursday, January 9 at Drogheda Garda Station, contrary to section 106 of the Road Traffic Act.

Garda Hegarty testified that the accused replied, “I agree with the charge.”

The alleged incident occurred at approximately 6.25pm at Mooretown, Dromiskin, Co. Louth on Monday, January 6.

The cyclist, a man aged in his 40s, was brought to Our Lady of Lourdes Hospital in Drogheda with serious injuries and remains in a critical condition.

Judge Coggans granted bail in the accused’s own bond of €5,000 and an independent surety of €10,000, with €5,000 to be lodged.
