Leanne Kiernan has been named in the starting line-up for Ireland’s 2025 UEFA Women’s European Championship qualifying match against Sweden

​Ireland have made three changes in their bid to end their five-game winless and scoreless streak at the Friends Arena for tonight’s Euro 2025 qualifier against Sweden.

And boss Eileen Gleeson will stick with the bold attacking line-up that initially frustrated the Swedes in the reverse fixture last Friday – but has decided to ditch Amber Barrett in favour of Leanne Kiernan.

Captain Katie McCabe will be fit to play despite fatigue issues in the 3-0 loss to the Swedes at Lansdowne Road.

Instead, the defender who was covering behind her, Anna Patten, has got the chop while Barrett has paid the price for her two missed chances in Friday’s game.

Aoife Mannion comes in for Patten while Liverpool’s Kiernan starts her first game for Ireland since featuring in an unsuccessful audition for last summer’s World Cup against Zambia.
