Despite having no water or electricity, a group of five students built a giant snowman in Limerick in the spirit of Sunday’s snowstorm

During Sunday’s Status Orange snowstorm a group of college students built what might be the tallest snowman in Ireland.

Servatius Antonius, 28, and his brother Paulus, 24, built “Big Bill”, a 23ft snowman with three friends in Elton village, near the town of Kilmallock in Co Limerick.

As soon as they saw the warning for snow they started preparing to build the snowman. The group built a 18ft snowman during the Beast from the East storm in 2018, which set them up for success this time round.

Mr Antonius said, “My brother and I began rolling large snowballs together to build the base. It took about six giant snowballs to construct. Then I started standing on top of it to prepare it for the next base. We measured it…
