These big Premier League matches like Liverpool versus Manchester United have become a pop-up all-day event, like an FA Cup final in the days when that fixture justified seven hours of telly.
We didn’t quite get overhead camera footage of the United team coach arriving at Anfield but Jamie Carragher and Gary Neville were on parade well before lunchtime, shovelling snow and opinions at each other. After all the dire weather warnings and threats of abandonment, that was as near as we got to impactful snow. It looks like the glory days of the orange ball and questionable visibility have gone for good in the top flight, alas.
